Nations
come and go,
time being nothing
to a few who
have the right will.
While ego which drives power
to effect change is everlasting.
Coming often from places unexpected those who rise to lead shake up existing institutions and shape more than their own lives.
Power structures try and often fail, just like any dying animal, to resist the changes arising from within.
Still these changes aren't always fast, the tools of a people and the will of those behind them are often stronger than a lifetime; and so concessions must be made.
This natural inertia struggles against everything we are - our very being a mere finite thing in the face of the enduring nature of wills outside of our own.
And so we make concessions to who we once were. We align with those whose interests are either unknown to us, or known and merely ignored in the moment.
Through this change of our hearts we arrive in places unexpected. Our story changes into something - not maybe worse - just different than ever intended.

An empire need only fall, need only suffer when it's dynasty suffers. When the dynasty is everlasting only one will remains.
