Skills

Skill costs are on a geometric scale. Between level one and ten, you are considered to be learning it. By level fifteen, you've achieved a basic level of mastery with it. At level 30, you're among the best at what you do. Level 40 is an Olympic-grade skill.
The void of space is unforgiving, requiring that every traveler be well-versed in skill-sets both professional and martial. Men, women, and children are all smarter in this age than ever before, able to do and experience things past generations could only wonder after. Competition is heavy in this age - and the successful individual is one who leverages their strengths to minimize weaknesses both mentally and physically.

Running, jumping, sports and the like.

Professional Skills

Skills for the skilled at heart. These are the bread and butter skills of the universe. Individuals apply these skills to make their living in the world or at least supplement it.

Crafting Skills

Racial Skills

Skills that all members of a race have. These are traits that an individual can usually improve with training.

Aptitude versus Technology

The universe is torn between those who have embraced technology in human augmentation and those who fight against its application, against the alarming implications it brings for the future of mankind. Many of the skills above have emerged thanks to the careful dedication of science and dedication on the part of skilled practitioners, masters of new arts. These areas of focus, thanks to technological advances, have since seen a cheapening, or broadening as the supporters claim, that has allowed for more widespread utility of such skill sets.

Thanks to augmentation technologies rigid disciplines of mind and body have spread to those once barred from the experience. Feelings are mixed in almost every community on this purist versus augmentation mentality. "Are not the best things in life worked for through struggle", the argument of the purists states. Opposite is the theory that "all people should be free to explore the possibilities of life, same as any other person, despite any physical or mental difference."
