Slavery

The use of slaves is particularly disturbing in an age in which droids are cheaper, much more humane, and more efficient in any duty a slave is used for. In fact, the presence of slavery anywhere in the galaxy can be contributed to one thing: the local population's decadent nature. Slaves are used as a status symbol, and the fact that they can control and dictate one's very existence is something their egos cannot get enough of.

Astrum law does not permit the purchase and/or sell of a person's life in any form of slave trade, but Rim-Worlds - those beyond the control of races' territories - are outside their jurisdiction. Some pirate houses have compounded the tragic impact of their raids by selling the passengers and/or crew of any ship they attack into the slave market. Reports also hold that some prisoners taken by the Den-Si party have been sold into the same slave markets.
