Den-Si Military Party
Summary
The Den-Si are the commanding body and military power for the Phirruden. These “True-Ones” claim to be the only Phirrus with the good of the people at heart, although many question the truest intent of some of the more zealous leaders.
The Den-Si party rose to power after the Ucual Corporation faded. Their interest: preserve and protect their own against the outside Human groups.
Following the divided clannish structure of the Phirrus, the Den-Si government is a loose ruling body with membership drawing its numbers from the heads of powerful clan-groups. These representatives are not elected, but step into the position from within their clan, usually some of the most shrewd and powerful within a clan. Once in the Den-Si parliament they express the interests of their individual clan to the whole, working deals with other clans in power-plays and vying for the still limited resources of the government.
In the parliament representatives votes vary per session. In-between session appraisals of interest are made to decide the weights in votes each group should carry. These appraisals act as a simple and effective fundraiser for the Den-Si government as groups often pay for extra interest as they work to outpace political rivals. The system isn’t viewed as corrupt, instead it is understood that the most well-established and best maneuvering groups will gain the most weight in the next session.
With this vying there exists rampant interest trade amongst parties as smaller political figures break deals, often heavily one-sided, in the hopes of breaking out ahead in years to come. Moving up the food chain in the political system can be much like risk taken on the stock market abroad, with potential for over-night success and failure or for a delayed strategy of smaller, steady gains. Each group favors its own strategy and holds its plays tightly.
People of Interest
Ardil Yaron
Ardil is the matron of the large Yaron clan on Xu-Sucha, and is a highly active advocate in the Den-Si party. Unlike many other family heads, Ardil does not elect representatives to send to the body, instead she attends in person and selects retainers from within the clan to join her as aides. This collected activity of a charismatic leader has lead to a much stronger showing from the clan in the party, one that allows them to outmaneuver the interests of similarly sized groups. Still, some within her clan question the matrons actions, wondering if her actions actually hamper real growth in exchange for political posturing.Rhistl Lahoven
This youthful second son is a rising political star, known for his passion for the Den-Si party. As an oddity for one of his age, Rhistl is a more vocal critic of the Inner Sol Alliance presence in the system than many elders. Moving as a figurehead to keep the youth ingrained in the Den-Si message Rhistl has had middling success in building smaller communities of grass-roots Den-Si support amongst the youngest groups. His work is based off historic records read about similar movements upon earth over a millennium ago.Powerful forces are watching this young man's career and wonder where he aims. So far he has been content to be an agent of the ruling parties, but when does ambition kick in an supersede duty to a cause?
History
Revolutionaries
The Phirrus recently united in cause - driven by a desire for freedom from the Ucual Corporation’s oppression. For years abuse had scarred the people, the Ucual Corp treating the race of their own creation like nothing more than property, driving the animosity deeper. When the tide broke against Ucual and the ISA forces pushed to investigate the dead system, the Phirrus rose up. Despite attempts to keep the arrival of the rest of humanity under-wraps the Ucual Corp was caught in the crossfire of calculated ISA justice and Phirrus hatred.
While the skies were taken by the ISA’s Georgian battle-group, the Phirrus took planetary facilities across the system with little more than determination and improvised weaponry. Talks soon began between the ISA commanders and the Phirrus, promises of trade, change, and growth were thrown about too quickly with little thought for the history of the system’s people.
With many Phirrus calling the ISA saviors, while more urged caution towards the outsiders from which Ucual Corporation originated the schism began to show in the dealings between not only the ISA and the Phirrus but amongst the Phirrus themselves. Soon powerful leaders of the clannish Phirrus were rising up to proclaim their messages to the masses. This political wrestling took place while the ISA worked to manage an active investigation alongside Astrum police, leaving the less numerous extroverts were scrambling for support that wasn’t to be found.
In the end it was likely this inaction, or unpreparedness of the ISA and Astrum planners that lead to the schism amongst the Phirrus.
A Military Power
Divided powers rose on both sides of the line. Phirrukup leaders fled to the furthest reaches of the system controlled by ISA forces, while Phirruden leaders positioned themselves in the heart of the system. Soon calls rose to secure borders and extend the safety buffer lest the Ucual Corporation be replaced by fifty worse groups. The Phirruden were not stupid in how quickly they worked, almost overnight they established bank accounts, using ties established early thanks to the ISA to relay their requests for monumental credit lines that leveraged entire planets and untapped resources. Somehow the actions went unnoticed long enough that the Phirruden leaders were able to order and receive initial shipments of professional grade military armament. By the time ISA officers noticed the exchanges as aberrant it was too late.
Some of the weapons were shunted into manufacturing, to establish military defense industries in-system, with initial designs supplied from the preliminary exchanges. It would be enough to start them down the path of self-sufficient defense. The rest of these traded weapons were put to use against the liberating forces. Years passed since the ISA removed Ucual Corp, yet the investigation into the actions of the company was far from over. Spread thin across the system ISA forces were shocked by the sudden rush of lightly armed Phirruden forces, shocked at the uprising despite warnings from numerous Phirrukup minorities. Failures of planning stacked on top of one another as the Phirruden managed to drive forward and take key control points on most worlds and their moons. More importantly they overtook the Scorpio Outposts in this time of hasty ISA withdrawal. A defensive push could have easily turned the tide against the Phirruden at this time, but ISA leaders abhorred the thought of alienating even more Phirrus by crushing thousands of self-proclaimed freedom fighters.
Burnt Bridges
For a short while the Den-Si forces were able to rely on old connections to buy supplies from outside providers such as the Arix controlled, Cappella. However, such ties were quickly cut-off by ISA forces after several more bloody spats erupted across the defensive front-line. Because of this the Den-Si parliament has declared all previous accounts null, negating payment for all purchase orders unfulfilled and contracts existing. This act further strained the Den-Si position with many groups such as the Cappellan ship-wrights who suffered substantial losses to the acts of the young government.
