Priot

Summary

Priot is a small, rocky moon devoid of resources beyond its limited mineral composition. Like many of Jupiter's moons, Priot was likely pulled into orbit by its home-world’s gravity in eons past. Habbakuk’s moon was initially used as a landing pad for establishing much larger settlements in the Chantilas System and industrial facilities on the world below.

Priot retains its initial function by providing the staging area used by the majority of individuals coming to Habbakuk. Few newcomers can claim to love the world below before they explore its beauty for an extended period of time. Priot has boomed because of this longstanding disagreement with things deathly cold.

Many caspiez claim that Habbakuk below is just as inhospitable as space with some businesspeople of the same race well known to avoid going to the planet in mock-boycott. On Priot, the residents have crafted a small-but-thriving community around transit and hospitality.

Visitors are always welcome and the small moon is often the stomping ground for weekend retreats by residents of Habbakuk looking to get away from the world below. Little industry exists on Priot outside of the service sector focused on the movement of goods and peoples. Despite this the moon is home to a growing community of “lifers” who have lived, and claim to wish to remain there indefinitely a rarity for smaller moon colonies.

Provided ample support for growth by and representation in Habbakuk’s governmental system allows the colony to continually push forward. This sponsorship allows the small moon to spread in ways normally constrained by the deep pockets of corporate backers or special interest groups. The only problem for Priot leaders is recognizing that space is at a premium with over sixty percent of the moon’s surface already covered in human activity.
