Humans, the stem from which all intelligent life has sprung as well as they know it. In the modern world humans are as diverse as the stars - with an almost infinite variety of sizes and shapes sharing the expanse of space their forebears only dreamed.

It is thanks to this group any splinter-race exists at all. Theirs is the genetic heritage which rests as the root for so many peoples. Creative, strong-willed, and unique it is worthless trying to explain how great, and horrible humanity really is.

Today they are masters far-and-wide, and can survive in the widest array of places ever thanks to the advances of technology and science. Humans of different cultural groups still exist today, but in every line the purity has been blurred over the centuries, with few truly pure-blood cultures remaining. In almost every case a person's face shows wide membership, standing beside brothers and sisters in the stars - even if they don't recognize it.

Notable History

A Narrowed but Widening Path

Beginning in the early 20th century the social structure of the world was in flux as nations expanded and technology allowed more interconnection than every before. This connectivity lead to a new age, an information age where sparks flew amongst entrenched cultures fighting against the tide that would sweep them into the collective soup of international culture.

This was the beginning of the narrowing, a period of several hundred years where dominant cultural traits emerged and smudged out lesser ones. This continued to such an extent that many sociologists scrambled to catalog dying cultures as an untold amount of human diversity passed into history. From a functional standpoint sociologist state estimates of over 20% of minor cultures were lost or destroyed during this period.

The narrowing did not last forever, and eventually the losses evened out as cultures that desired to retain their heritage took appropriate action. In almost every case surviving cultural groups are those that adapted and evolved, embracing their history alongside the shifting years. As men and women moved out from Earth in the later centuries the population's spread allowed for cultures to begin expanding once more. Retaining the connectivity allowed for a new type of culture to emerge, an interest society.

The interest society is one that has grown to the point where members elect to rejoin a subgroup by identifying with its fundamentals through an underlying commonality. That very personal election principle resounded with the multitude as they reached the stars, colonized, and found that they were individually free - and wholly alone. Some turned to cultures that survived, others helped to trace back ancestry and rebuild what they could, while others still banded together to create a new social order. A new age, a cultural renaissance was born.
