Sharks
Motivation
Average criminals make a living moving illegal goods, petty theft, etc. Many organizations vie for the favor of the local crooks so they can take the best for their own ranks.Sharks usually act on their own, dealing with other factions of the underworld, but not joining them. Sometimes large groups of them converge to form guilds, where many of them work under the command of few.
Organization
There are many unregistered production and smuggling operations across long distances; most know nothing about where their pay comes from and work semi-independently.Select people are invited into guild ranks after performing many jobs and making their worth apparent.
Some guilds fight with each other over territory, some negotiate mutually beneficial arrangements.
Distinguishing Features
Might paint 'jaws' on front of certain ships to give it the appearance of a shark. Some groups wear shark teeth or more commonly chunks of metal ground and polished to look like teeth, on chains or woven into hair or clothes. Certain individuals will actually alter their teeth to resemble sharks of the sea, with rows of cutting teeth that replenish themselves constantly. These teeth, once shed, make good trinkets for him and his mates to decorate themselves with.
Braggit, the name of the pistol many of them carry, can also be used to refer to the type of people that carry it.
As a bold and intimidating criminal statement, some pirates will have it so their veins and skin appear blue due to anger or other spike of blood pressure. With practice, one can conjure this appearance at will.
