Play-by-Post

A play-by-post RPG is a complex game that relies on the creativity of its players to thrive. For a more cohesive definition Wikipedia says it better, defining:

"A play-by-post game (PbP) is an online text-based role-playing game. This is a niche area of the online roleplaying community which caters to both gamers and creative writers. PbP games are often based on other role-playing games, non-game fiction, or original settings. This activity is closely related to both interactive fiction and collaborative writing." - [1]

Forum Based

On Starborn and InMyth.com games primarily are undertaken as play-by-post, where players interact through a forum and explore the game world in similar fashion. This is one of numerous examples of online role-playing, others which might be modeled around e-mail, chat-rooms, or various other technologies.

In every case creativity of the individual is necessary to expand game play and provide continued enjoyment.
