Marineris Max 6k
Set in the massive Valles Marineris river basin on terraformed Mars, the Marineris Max 6k track is part of the Xifor Series Racing Circuit. The Valles Marineris was long known to be one of the largest canyons in Sol System, so when Mars was transformed by the terraforming event, the canyon became one of the planet's largest rivers feeding the Xanthe Ocean.Today, the Marineris Max 6k is one of the most dangerous tracks in the XSR Circuit. The 6k represents the approximate 6,000 kilometers from start to finish. The track itself actually goes above, below, and on the surface of the river. This requires vehicles that are capable of floating and submerging as well as hovering above a solid track. There are spans of the track that the racers compete similar to centuries old speedboat races. Tunnel openings also exist to push competitiors down beneath the surface of the river through underwater caverns. This also transitions at several points into a solid mass track that soars high into the Martian sky with spans that are inverted.
Pierce Racing Tech, one of the leading producers of vehicles seen in the XSR Circuit, has designed the streamlined Hydrasis specifically for the Marineris Max 6k and a handful of other water-based tracks. The Hydrasis features a 2-man, sealed cockpit, one seat for the pilot and one for a co-pilot. It also contains 12 lev-panels with six on the top and bottom of the vehicle. These help the vehicle avoid contact with portions of a track that are out of the water. The engine is sufficient to support speeds of up to 520 km/hr on the water and up to 370 km/hr underwater.
