(I'm not sure if this is the right place for this discussion, but I wasn't able to post in the Freeform Games/Games Seeking Players forum- if there's a problem, I guess the admins can delete/move the thread...)
At any rate, what I'd like to discuss is getting two or three other playtesters for an experimental PBP system I've been working on for a while now. I'll outline the basics here, but a lot of the specific details will probably have to be roughed out during play or customised to fit a particular setting, so this is just a general outline: 1. There's no fixed order within a given round of posting. For any given scene, each player states what they want their character(s) to accomplish (or simply 'to be true',) and then everything gets resolved at once. (There's a basic system of Attributes/Traits/Assets to determine who's good at what.) 2. The last person to post for a given scene in a given round is called the First Speaker, is responsible for resolving that scene, and posts first in the next round. There is still a GM player responsible for handling NPCs and environmental adversity, but s/he has no special privileges beyond that. 3. After scene resolution, the First Speaker posts a rough 'general summary' of what happened, which the players then 'fill in' retroactively with further descriptive detail (this consists of proposing 'edits' or 'revisions' to prior description.) If no-one objects to a given revision, it goes ahead. (To make this interesting, there'll probably be a metagame resource of some kind involved- you bid it to propose edits, earn more back if they're instated.) Editing is optional, and can be done at any time, even after moving on to other scenes. My main objective here is to forge ahead with the main story as quickly as possible, without getting bogged down by the mechanics of games optimised for table-top play, and to impose as few demands on the players' time as possible. At any rate, if any of this sounds interesting, let me know (A) if you'd be available to play, (B) roughly how often you'd like to post/update, and (C) what kind of setting or genre would interest you (since a certain amount of customisation will be required there in any case.) Thanks, Jill EDIT: Usual Disclaimer: Any and all of the above is subject to revision if it turns out it doesn't work. You have been warned... :P Last edited by Samurai Jill; 03-19-2010 at 07:53 AM. |
